Archbishop Sean Brady officially launches the Catholic Education Website at St. Mary's University College, Belfast.
Archbishop Seán Brady, at the launch in St. Mary's University College, of the website for Catholic Education. Archbishop Sean Brady and Bishop Donal McKeown at the launch of the websiteDuring his address, Archbishop Brady states:
- Reconciliation, love of neighbour, respect for difference: these values are intrinsic to Catholic education; - Catholic education brings together the three most important and formative influences in the life of any child: the home, the parish and the school; - the school curriculum can, and should, offer technical and professional training for future employment but we believe it cannot, and should not, be shaped solely by the needs of the consumer economy … it should serve society by forming human individuals who, in turn, will change society for the better. - I appeal today to all parents to ensure that their children are taught to respect the role of the teachers in their school.
